2018 First Shad Trip

Went fishing with Patriarch, Captain, and Excitable Fisherman today.  This is my first shad fishing trip for 2018.  The current was not running very fast.  We found a bunch of fish on the fish finder at around 25 feet depth, across from Miller Park.  We missed a few and landed seven total.  For shad, that's very little for four fishermen fishing six hours!

However, I enjoyed every moment of it.  I didn't even keep the fish.  Watching my dad (Patriarch) enjoyed fishing was my reward!

Lots of huge logs passed by the boat.  We lost several rigs due to snags.  Be careful out there....

Finally, while I was helping Captain land his fish, I put the net down; and the fish hopped right in to it!  Captured it on GoPro.  Check it out!

God bless,

Another Awesome Bass Day

Windows 10 Update has disabled the recognition of GoPro Hero3+  Yes, my GoPro is dated.  I have found a solution; however, no video this time....

I went fishing with Grandmaster (GMF) yesterday drifting minnows.  Surprisingly, we got very few bites on the minnows.  That's when GMF introduced me to a different grub, that is, different than the hula grub.  I am a beginner bass fisherman and prefer the easy "drifting minnows" technique.  However, I have tried different grubs in the past, but have not caught any bass with the exception of the hula grub.  But yesterday, I may have caught my personal best on the grub?  The bass was 20-inch and 3 pounds!  My current personal best was June 1st, 2017.  That bass was caught drifting minnows....

Before noon, we caught two limits!!!  God is good!

FORTY-FIVE INCH STRIPED BASS!!!

Went fishing this morning armed with blood worms because that's what been catching striped bass for the past week.  Unfortunately, this morning, they hit nothing but TOP LURES!!!

I witnessed this young man landed the biggest striped bass ever!  It took him TEN minutes to land it.  I edited the video into one minute for your viewing.  The fish measured by yours truly to be FORTY-FIVE inches!  Wowsha!
WizTech got to assist in pulling the fish in...

Forty-five inch lunker!
Short video:

The word is that they will be in the river hitting top lures for the next two weeks only!  So get out there.  Hopefully, you may see a video of JU landing a big one in the near future....

Hope your day is going well,

One Blessing After Another...

It's a good thing I came back from the Dakota while the fishing is still red hot.  I got an invite from WizTech to go striped bass fishing yesterday, and today I went fishing with Grandmaster himself!!!

WizTech got the striped bass action tuned in from the shore because it appeared as if the fish favors his pole.  Yesterday he was getting most of the action.  Thankfully, JU also got one and did not get skunk!  All the action happened before 10 AM, so JU got a chance to go have lunch with PROFisherman and his daughter afterwards...

Only in America...

Where should I begin?

What an exhilarating experience it has been for the past week traveling from California to North Dakota and back!

If you are a regular to my blog, you may have recalled that four years ago I entrusted two of my children to U-Mary in ND.  Just like that, I am now blessed with two graduates.

This will have been my only extended trip for the past 29 years of marriage without my inseparable companion.  This is the only sad part of my trip, i.e., that Mrs. Miracles was not with me.

Driving 15 hundred miles to get to ND by myself, I took my sweet time....  I made a stop in Montana and purchased a 2-day fishing license for $50!!!  I believe that's more than a California residence annual fishing license.  I confess that I have an addiction to fishing.  In my excitement to fish in Montana, I neglected to check the water conditions in Livingston....  It recently rained there, and the river was "blown."  That's technical jargon for the water was brownish and unfishable.  I fished in the frigid weather conditions, and got wind burned on the back side of my hand.  Ouch!

On to Billings where the water conditions was a little bit better.  Met up with some other fishermen at Lake Elmo State Park.  Fished for a couple of hours and no one caught anything....

Hint: fish under pier :-)

Serious fishing lures....

Will these work for salmon?

My theory is that I had breakfast with brother J.B., whom I met in Bozeman, way past the fishing time.  Thus, the fish went back to hibernating by the time I headed out to the river.  I'm sticking to that story.

My daughter has wonderful friends (and their parents) that I had an opportunity to meet.  It was a treasure to witness such beautiful friendship.

I never tire of seeing the wonderful views while driving.  It put things in perspective that only in America can a farm boy from 'Nam grow up and be a superhero.😁

May God bless your day.

Can't get enough of this view.
Real life bison!
Two down... four more to go 👌😁😅
