Brookie???

We went fishing at Lake Kirkwood on Friday (6/22).  We fished from 9 AM to 10 AM without a bite!  One of our favorite lakes where we normally limited out, but today all we saw was a monster fish chasing our lure without a hit!

Then at 10 AM, it was every fisherman's dream when he has a bunch of kids wanting to catch fish rather than fishing....  Yes....  THE FISH TRUCK ARRIVED!!!  1,100 RAINBOW WERE DUMPED INTO THE LAKE!!!  Yours truly got it on camera.

ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED RAINBOW!!!
Unfortunately, another hour went by before the first fish was landed by a nearby fisherman!  Super strange.  We tried just about everything and only managed six fish total by 2 PM.  We left and spoke with the camp host.  He told us that we were the only successful fishermen within the past two weeks that he was there?!?!?

My suspicion is that the water was super warm.  As soon as the fish were dumped into the lake, they took off to the deeper parts of the lake.  Also, they may have been well fed at the hatchery before their trek up the mountain.  Nevertheless, this may have been the very first time where we did not limited out when the fish were being dumped into the lake.  The fisherman next to us was trying just about everything also, but only landed the very initial fish.  How strange!  Additionally, what's also super strange is that we caught two monster size brook trout!!!  Well, at least they're monster by our standards since we don't typically catch 'em.  They resemble baby salmon.  Can't wait to have 'em for dinner.

What a beauty!

Beautiful brook trout!
The children didn't catch a lot of fish, but they manage to have their own fun...

I gotta big minnow 😀

Not gonna get my hands dirty!
Let's just jump into the lake videos!!!

We got back home just in time for Holy Mass!

Peace,

Just Another Fishing... Friday

Lake Alpine is about two and half hour's drive from SacTown.  Today there were lots of roadway constructions and one-way traffic control.  But once we got to our destination, it was definitely worth the trip.

We fished from 11 AM until 2 PM.  We caught a total of five fish, with the biggest being a fifteen incher, pink meat, rainbow trout.  Fishing was not as productive as yesterday.  We caught three on the power ball from the bottom, one on the Thomas, and another on night crawler.

End of fishing report😁

Have a blessed day.

Let's go scouting

Whoa...

Another nice lake

What?!?!

Not bad...

Where are the fishing poles?!?!

On Da Single Hook!

It was a fun day going up to Lower Blue Lake to catch some planted trout!

We started near the ramp soaking power bait and casting lures.  It took about an hour just to catch ten trout.  I started walking towards the dam casting a Thomas Buoyant with a single hook.  Pretty soon I discovered a lot of planted trout near the dam.  So we moved our gears😁  Soon we started getting lots of hits on our lures, but landing the trout was a challenge.  This was because I swapped out most of the treble hooks that came with the lures into the single hook!  It became a bragging right if we caught the fish using a single hook lure.

By the end of our fishing trip, we manage to land a few...

Forget fishing....  The sight is incredible!

First ten by the ramp

Eureka!

God is good!
Next adventure?  May be tomorrow...
