Let's Go Fishing

With no water and warm weather in the Sacramento area, the brothers decided to go to the mountain instead.  Darn, I missed out...

Fish Whisperer fishing report:

We arrived there around 3pm on Friday & setup camp.  To our surprise the entire lake was iced over except by the dam. On my first cast I caught a nice rainbow.  The fish hit in less than a minute.  Next thing you know a few minutes later my buddy got a bite and from there we had 10 fish before the sun went down.  These rainbows were beautiful & strong fighters.  As for the weather it was nice when the sun was out, but as soon as it went down the chill was very strong.  We had a nice camp fire & started dinner: grilled carne asada, veggies, & tortillas.  After dinner my third friend showed up and we got his tent set up in the dark.  My buddy that arrived later was so excited to get on the fish he woke me up in the morning on first light.  Immediately we were on the fish as we had triple hook ups.  As the sun came out it melted some ice by the dam so we went over there with lures.  Brother this is when the trip became special.  We started hooking good sized cut throats on z-rays & kastmasters!  We had 30 fish in less than an hour on the dam.  We had so many fish that we started releasing anything that looked under 2lbs.  We quickly got the bbq grill going so we could eat some fresh fish & go back to complete our limits before going home.  I just couldn’t believe how hot it was.  Even got to watch them take my zray just feet from the shore.  I’ve never fished a trout hatchery before, but I imagine it must be like that.  All I can say is blessed is the man that fishes the lake as soon as the ice thaws.
